National Service Scheme

The National Service Scheme serves to establish a meaningful linkage between the campus and the community. Through this the students are motivated to work for the upliftment of the villages and community. The Motto of NSS is “personality development through social service”.
An active and effective NSS unit has been functioning in this institution since 2004 – 2005. All interested students can join NSS. Those who complete the NSS activities including 7 days of Annual special camp successfully will be awarded the NSS certificate by the Directorate of Higher Secondary Education.
This certificate is beneficial to get grace marks of 15 for the Higher Studies and 2% marks will be added to the total mark in the Higher Secondary Examination.

Career Guidance & Counselling Unit

Higher Secondary Directorate has established 150 career guidance & Counseling units all over Kerala. We are lucky enough to get such a unit in our school. This initiative envisages to solve psycho-social and scholastic problem of the students. Apart from this the career guidance unit helps the students to opt for the career / course according to their aptitude & skill. This unit offers sessions related with personality development career opportunities and memory techniques. There is a collection of relevant books and materials which support the above said objectives.

Souhrida Club

Adolescent counselling and Healthcare programme is a unique and innovative programme conceived and launched by the Dept. of HSE. This programme is implemented in schools through Souhrida Clubs. A teacher who is selected as co-ordinator will be conducting the activities of the club. The motto of Souhrida Club is to create
‘ Souhridam to Self, Society and Environment ‘. Souhrida Vedhi units work as the executive committee of the Souhrida Club.

Tourism Club

Tourism in Kerala is going through a significant phase of growth and development. Setting up of Tourism clubs in schools by the Department of Tourism is aimed at creating proper awareness about tourism among youth. Tourism club provides platforms for more open expressions and exchange of ideas regarding tourism related efforts. It promotes a rational approach towards tourism, environment, nature and makes the younger generation to participate in the developmental activities of tourism. The tourism club functions under the guidance of District Tourism promotion council, Kannur.

Entrance Club

Entrance club is a special feature of St.Joseph’s Higher Secondary School. It is a self sustaining system by a selected group of entrance aspirants. The club aims in training its members for competitive entrance exams like lIT, All India Med. Engg. Exams. Objective type test papers are conducted at the end of each chapter every week. Here each students gets a chance to set a question paper and to discuss the related points and short cuts on a topic.
